Abstract:
The agricultural-economic zone of Galaţi includes eight villages
situated in the river meadows of Siret and Prut and on their adjoining hills,
as follows: Braniştea, Frumuşiţa, Şcheia, Smârdan, Şendreni, Tuluceşti,
Vînători and Galaţi.
The position of the above-mentioned zone is adjacent to Galaţi city
and has a significant importance in maintaining and strengthening of the
rural family, which consists in economic, social, cultural and environment
protection objectives. The total population of the agricultural-economic zone
of Galaţi counts 135549 inhabitants, out of which a percentage of 37,1 %
work in agriculture, meaning only 1,99 hectares of agricultural terrain per
an employed person in agriculture.
The analyze of the structure of vegetal production and the results
obtained in the agricultural-economic zone of Galati emphasize the high
agricultural potential and the significant role held in the economy of the
zone, which is mainly based on wine growing.
The main strategic objectives of implementing the market policy and
developing the wine growing in Galaţi district are as follows: reducing from
23 years at present, to 17 years in 2014, of the average age of fruit bearing
viticulture plantations; increasing from 679 hectares at present, to 1562
hectares in 2014, of the surfaces occupied by noble vineyards capable to
produce grapes for wines with name of controlled origin (DOC); increasing
from 5,3 mil. hl. at present, to 8 mil. hl. in 2014, of the wine total production;
placing at intervals of the clearing of surfaces occupied by direct hybrid
vineyards located out of villages area; improving of the technology of wine
making; improving of the marketing of viticulture products.
The authors propose to emphasize the measures to be taken in Galaţi
district for achieving the above mentioned objectives.
