Abstract:
The subsistence farms are not the farms complying with the
community definition and most of them could never become farms because of
the social function they have. These exploitations will exist, as long as the
active rural population, but also the inactive one will not have other
subsistence support. They are mainly based on the manual labour and is
typical for the agriculture with reduced performances. The subsistence
agriculture play a major role for the rural population as the auto
consumption is important for wide range of products.
Iasi county has still got a lot of subsistence farms census of 2004 there
were 145000 of individual exploitations on a total area of 213,840 ha with an
average area of 1.47 ha each, meaning that 56% of the Iasi county total area
is fragmented in small plots.
By means of various stimulating politics of some alternative income
sources, the subsistence farms will be encouraged to develop complementary
activities or to take benefits of the measures stipulated in the National Plan
of Rural Development (N.P.R.D.): the possibilities to use the structural funds
and to practice an intensive and super-intensive agriculture; reducing the
number of those who can’t apply for the structural funds by the enforcement
of the measures of life annuity benefit and the anticipant retirement;
association in fields for the performance of agro-technical works, observing
the propriety right and the fertility class.
