dc.description.abstract The “Moldoviţa” variety belongs to the species Vicia faba L., var. major Harz. It has been created at the Agricultural Research and Development Station of Suceava – Agricultural Research Centre of Pojorâta, and homologated in 2004. It was recommended in all the areas favourable to horse bean growing from Romania, for animal feeding, as concentrate. Its traits are: good growing rate and vigour, good resistance to the main cryptogamic diseases, adaptability to ecological and cropping conditions, showing a high yield capacity and a good stability. Under the conditions of Pojorâta, on the average of all testing years, it has achieved over 3700 kg grains/ha, and within the I.S.T.I.S. network, over 3000 kg grains/ha. As concerns quality traits, the Moldoviţa variety has an average content of protean matters in grain of 31.9%, a high content of non-nitrate extracts, mineral substances and vitamins, which give it a significant fodder value. en_US
