Abstract:
Erosion and sedimentation have been recognised as a major
environmental threat within the Tutova Rolling Hills. The heavy rainfalls
that occured during September 05, 2007 within both the southern part of the
Moldavian Plateau and the north-eastern part of the Romanian Plain
ammounted up to 237.7 mm in the town of Podu Turcului. These severe
rainfalls resulted in a significant hidrologic reaction and a variable erosion
reaction. Field data collected mostly in small catchments, each usually under
500 ha in size, are emphasizing the associated impact on the local
environment. In addition, the human activity has sometimes decisively
contributed in diferentiating that impact.
