dc.description.abstract A five years’ Alpine goat breed was presented to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Infectious Diseases Clinic with a history of recurrent mastitis, treated at home by the owner and a reduced appetite. During the physical examination, an acute inflammation of the mammary gland (right half) with oedema, congestion, sensitivity and pain at the palpation were noticed. The milk secretion was affected, with both halves presenting diminished secretion more pronounced on the right one, with serous appearance, separated in two layers: the upper part yellowish-green, while the inferior part with a jellylike appearance and clots. The diagnosis was confirmed based on the clinical signs, culture and antibiogram assay. Additionally, a complete blood count was performed, revealing a mild lymphopenia. The treatment consisted in administration of bacteriophages through the papillary duct, accompanied by supportive care, represented by antiinflammatory drug, vitamin therapy and fluid therapy. After 2 weeks of hospitalization, the goat totally recovered. en_US
