Abstract:
Packaging plays a critical role in food safety, product preservation, and market competitiveness. Over time, packaging
materials and techniques have improved significantly, offering an increased protection against environmental factors and
enhancing product appeal. However, interactions between food and packaging materials can represent risks to food safety,
especially when chemicals migrate into food. Recent innovations, such as biodegradable and intelligent packaging, helps
to improve sustainability keeping the products quality. Furthermore, packaging is a crucial marketing tool, influencing
consumer choices through branding, information, and eco-friendliness. This article reveals the evolution, functional
significance, and regulatory framework of food packaging, with focus on safety, sustainability, and consumer
preferences.
