Abstract

In the reddish preluvosoil area from Romanian Plain, during a very droughty year, the lentil plants had a vegetation cycle of 85 days, except for the Beluga cultivar, which had a vegetation cycle of 95 days. Flowering precocity was observed at the Sorte de Puy and Moara Domneasca 2006 cultivars, respectively 39-44 days after emergence, where the maximum flowering stage was noted between 22nd and 26th of May. The Beluga cultivar was more belated – flowering began 51 days after emergence, respectively on 2nd of June. Ripening was accelerated by drought, but the differences between cultivars in terms of maturity date were not significant. The most belated cultivar was Beluga, which reached harvesting maturity on 17th of June, i.e. 14 days later than the other cultivars. The 1000-seed weight values ranged between 22.6 g and 64.02 g, the average being 31.88 g. Only two cultivars had a 1000-seed weight above 50 g, namely the Turkish and Franch cultivars.
