Abstract:
The effects of threshing
drum speed of an axial-flow thresher at five
levels of 450, 550, 650, 750 and 850 rpm,
and paddy moisture content of at three
levels 17.0, 20.0 and 23.0 % (w.b.) on the
broken and cracked grains were examined.
The results revealed that the most broken
grains of 0.677 was recorded at drum speed
of 850 rpm and paddy moisture contents of
17 % and the least value was obtained at
drum speed of 450 and 550 rpm and paddy
moisture content of 23.0 %. The cracked
grains increased from 7.0 to 37.0 %, 6.67 to
25.0 % and 14.0 to 17.30 % at paddy
moisture contents of 17.0, 20.0 and 23.0 %,
respectively as the drum speed increased
from 450 to 850 rpm. The most grain
damage was measured at moisture content
of 17.0 % and the least was obtained at
moisture content of 23.0 %.
